Rotating Mop Helps People Who Hate Getting Their Hands Dirty
Written by Vlad on August 16, 2010 – 10:30 pm - 2,742 viewsThis rotating mop has a circular head and comes with a special bucket that contains a pedal-powered rotating basket. When you need to dry the mop, you stick the bottom into the basket and press on the pedal with your foot. As the basket spins, centrifugal force wrings the excess moisture out of the mop, which then flows back into the bucket.
I bought this on Catchoftheday for about $35, but it is also sold on eBay and a number of other daily deal sites. It goes by various names including Amazing 360° Roto Mop, Spinning Mop, Spin Mop and Magic Mop.
Why I Bought the Rotating Mop
I am now in charge of cleaning in my home. One chore that I really detested was mopping tiles and sweeping my polished timber floor. I really hated how the heads of our old mops eventually became really black and cruddy, and I didn’t want to consider the idea of cleaning them by hand. Also, they would drip dirty water when wet. The rotating mop solved my problems:
Rinsing and drying the mop is easy and avoids dripping
You fill the bucket with water and detergent. When you want to rinse the mop, you just dunk it into the bucket several times, then you spin then mop in the rotating basket to remove the excess liquid, so it won’t drip on your floor.
You can easily clean the rotating mop head without using your hands
You detach the mop head by putting your foot on top of the brush head and unscrewing the pole with your hands. You can then toss it into your washing machine and dry it in the sun.
The rotating mop can be used wet or dry
In dry mode, it sweeps up dust by electrostatic attraction – the dust just sticks to the braided fibres like a magnet. I use it in this way to quickly sweep the dust off the timber floor in my living room. In wet mode, I use it for the tiled areas in my corridor and bathrooms.
The rotating mop head can tilt and rotate up to 180°
This makes it easier to sweep underneath coffee tables and tight corners
The bucket has a strong carry handle
This makes it easy to carry from room to room.
Other Comments
It is stated that the fibres of the mop head are antibacterial and odour resistant. I have not tried to verify this by cleaning up something stinky, as I prefer to avoid creating stinky messes.

Recommendations for Buying a Spinning Mop
Make sure that you buy one that comes with an additional mop head, so you can replace the first one after it eventually wears out.
Other Uses for the Spinning Mop
- I have read that it can be used for cleaning windows.
- I have read that the pedal-powered spinning basket can be used for drying any small wet fabric articles
I have had no reason to use it for those purposes.
